The Story: The Story: Drama critic Mortimer Brewster’s engagement announcement is upended when he discovers a corpse in his elderly aunts’ window seat. Mortimer rushes to tell Abby and Martha before they stumble upon the body themselves, only to learn that the two old women aren’t just aware of the dead man in their parlor, they killed him! Between his aunts’ penchant for poisoning wine, a brother who thinks he’s Teddy Roosevelt, and another brother using plastic surgery to hide from the police—not to mention Mortimer’s own hesitancy about marriage—it’ll be a miracle if Mortimer makes it to his wedding. Arsenic and Old Lace is a classic black comedy about the only thing more deadly than poison: family.
Theatre West veteran, T Sean Prescott, directs this production for our 50th
anniversary season. “Arsenic and Old Lace” was last performed at Theatre West in December 2001, directed by our performance stage namesake, Jack Coyne. Jack did not live to see the full run of the show, but he brought it to life and we hope to remember him well with this new production.

In his own words, he’s been acting most of his life with a few stage productions thrown in here and there, and his recent stage productions include D.W. DeWitt in Theatre West’s Epic Proportions, President Harding in Camping with Henry and Tom, and Candy in New Vision Arts’ Of Mice and Men at Newport’s PAC.
Frank loves the beach and taking on his new role as husband to his beautiful and wonderful bride Janet. He spends much of his time building things like boats and other woodworking projects as well as a mix of hobbies which include rowing, traveling, playing disc golf and pickleball.
Frank is excited and grateful to return to the Jack Coyne stage for this production and hopes to remain active in the theater as long as he can help tell their stories.
