The Story: This backstage farce centers on a not very famous acting couple who are on tour in Buffalo in 1953 with a repertory consisting of Cyrano de Bergerac and Noel Coward’s Private Lives. Fate has given these thespians one more shot at starring roles in The Scarlet Pimpernel epic. Famed director Frank Capra himself is en route to Buffalo to catch their matinee performance. Will Charlotte Hay appear or run off with their agent? Will George Hay be sober enough to emote? Will Capra see Cyrano, Private Lives or a disturbing mixture of the two? Hilarious misunderstandings pile on madcap misadventures, all of which are magnified by Charlotte’s deaf mother, who manages the theater.
First time director, but long time volunteer, Patrick Kiernan, directs for our final show of this, our 50th anniversary season. “Moon Over Buffalo” was last performed at Theatre West in December 2010, directed by Stina Seeger-Gibson, a long time Theatre West stalwart.

Jason Kutchma
George Hay
Jason made his Theatre West debut with Harold and Maude, following it with a role in Dial M for Murder. He also participated in the Red Octopus 2024 production of The Christmas Show. As a musician, Jason performed hundreds of shows singing coast to coast with the North Carolina bands Red Collar and JKutchma & The Five Fifths.

Mary Griffith
Charlotte Hay
Moon Over Buffalo is Mary’s second show with Theatre West. She appeared in the first iteration of Cocktail Hour before it was cancelled due to the COVID shutdown. More recently, she played Virginia Wolfe in the Porthole Players’ production of Spirits of Sylvia Beach down in Newport.
Ms. Griffith comes to us from San Antonio, TX where she was the executive director of the Overtime Theater. She has numerous theatrical credits from the Overtime and surrounding theaters, but one of her favorite roles there was a two-year stint portraying the villainous Lady Isabella in the long-running sci-fi stage serial, Captain Cortez and the Tri-Lambda Brigade.
Mary is ridiculously excited to rejoin Theatre West, and looks forward to working with the wonderfully talented cast and company in future shows.

Jayne Calkins
Ethel
Jayne is giddy to be returning to community theater as part of the Moon Over Buffalo cast, after a too-long hiatus due to the distractions of adulting (i.e. parenting and earning a living). Jayne previously played Pearl in The Prisoner of Second Avenue, and Penelope in See How They Run, both at Albert Lea Community Theatre.
Jayne was the teacher in the Speechless Film Festival award winning film Draw, Don’t Speak, directed by Griffin Huber (available on YouTube and Vimeo). She studied acting at Santa Barbara City College, where she was Dorothy in The Shock of Recognition. Jayne was a regular comedian and improv performer at the Second Story in Santa Barbara. She is grateful to her husband Dan, daughters Quinn and Phoebe, for their encouragement.

Taylor Parker
Rosalind
Taylor is excited to be making her premier performance at Theatre West. Her youthful experience comes from the Redding Christian School theater playing Arrieta in Little Mermaid, Mrs. Roosevelt in Annie, Mrs. Squires in Music Man, and at the Lincoln City Playhouse Meg in Little Women, Penelope in
Odyssey, and the Red Queen in Alice in Wonderland.
Taylor is a teacher’s aide at Samaritan Early Learning Center. She has been a dancer for 12 years.

Gavin Suckow
Howard
I have been in theatre for most of my life. I am a recent graduate from Oregon Coast Community College. My most prominent roles at Theatre West have been Harold in Harold and Maude and Mortimer in Arsenic and Old Lace. I recently had my first assistant directing role in And Miss Reardon Drinks a Little and want to pursue further directing opportunities in the future.

Anna Gabler
Eileen
I love acting and music. I have done musicals throughout my childhood and high school, including Missoula Children’s theater and high school choir.
This is my third Theatre West play. In Harold and Maude I played two characters, Sylvie and Nancy, and in Arsenic and Old Lace, I played Elaine Harper. I am passionate about singing, dancing, and acting.

Brandon Batson
Paul
Brandon is thrilled to be making his debut with this production of Moon Over Buffalo here at Theatre West. The stage has always intrigued him, but his only credits to this point include The King in Cinderella and Baseball Player #2 in Our Town. Brandon hopes this will only be the beginning of his theatre career as he enjoys stepping outside of his comfort zone and onto the stage. When not on stage, you can catch Brandon taking care of our locals down at Pelican Brewing Company here in Lincoln City.
Brandon is also passionate about wellness as he’s a certified Health and Wellness Coach. He would like to thank the team here at Theatre West for this opportunity and for all the support that’s been provided by his peers in this lovely town.

Michael Murphy
Richard
Michael has been in Lincoln City for three years. His last performance at Theatre West was in Outside Mullingar. He is looking forward to being back on the stage and making people smile and enjoy the theater. When he is not acting he enjoys playing in local pool tournaments.

Patrick Kiernan
Director
Patrick has served in behind-the-scenes capacities as stage manager for The Cocktail Hour, stagehand in Outside Mullingar, production assistant for The Dining Room and assistant director for Popcorn Falls. He has been on stage as Thomas Edison in the theatre’s production of Camping with Henry and Tom, in the stage reading of Agatha Christie Plays, performing as five different characters, as Jumbo in Panache and most recently as Lionel in Bakersfield Mist.
Patrick spent 35 years working both in/and off production in the film and television industry in Los Angeles before retirement. He relocated to Lincoln City in 2020.

Cathye Wehr
Assistant Director
Cathye is pleased to be working on Moon over Buffalo with a very talented director, cast, and crew. Recent directing experience includes directing Dial M for Murder and assistant director on Camping with Henry and Tom. Other of her recent highlights include acting as the dying mother in Gowns with the Porthole Players and in Outside Mullinger at Theatre West. She also played the mother in The Cocktail Hour.
In-between acts, Cathye enjoys singing with the Coastal Voices chorale.
